Hot News Update - September 2005   (September 19, 2005)

Website statistics: In August we were able to welcome on our website 20'836 visitors
from 104 different countries  who did 376'524 hits
                                (July = 18'751 visitors - 105 countries - 359'612 hits)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update:
On September 13th we flew with Tiger Airways - an Asian low-cost airline - for only US$65 from Macao
to Singapore. Although only half the size of Hong Kong, Singapore offers a lot as a tourist destination, even
if - according to our feelings - it cannot be anymore regarded as the most low-priced shopping destination.
The former Portuguese Macao however was more a nice little town with an own colonial history and many
casinos; Hong Kong will remain for us THE "Skyscraper-Megatown" with the biggest Chinese flavor.

Tomorrow, September 21st, we should get back our Toyota LandCruiser here in Singapore. It is now
nearly eight weeks since we said "good-by" to it in Cayenne/French Guiana. After eight flights around half
of the world, "everyday life on the road" is now beginning again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our car is still on high seas. After it left Cayenne in French Guiana on August 4th, it changed yesterday
in Le Havre/France to another vessel bound for Singapore, where it should arrive on September 20th.
Our visit in Prescott/Arizona in the West of the USA ended also on August 31st. The first flight was
with America West Airlines from Phoenix to Los Angeles where we changed to China Airlines. After
29 hours we reached via Taipei/Taiwan very exhausted our final destination: Hong Kong. Within a
month's time we were confronted with two huge cultural contrasts: From the traditional African way of live
in Guyana to the great desert regions in America's West and now the Chinese "Skyscraper"-Mega town
of Hong Kong housing one the world's densest population.

Without our "buddy" we believe to sense already some signs of deprivation. But it shows to have also some
advantages: Thus we are able to "camp" in the very heart of the city of Hong Kong -  in Kowloon - and are
therefore able to experience its exuberant life at its closest. While here public transport (subway, bus, ferry,
tramway and railway systems) is functioning perfectly, we were a little bit lost in America's West
without our own mean of transport and consequently dependent always on others helpfulness.

Unfortunately, currently it is rainy season here and therefore it is also very hazy, but the rainfall itself is actually
not really a big problem. But there are repeatedly typhoons in the region - cyclone "Talim" affected badly
the island of Taiwan just hours before our stopover there.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On July 7th, 2005, we were able to celebrate after a journey through 150 countries the car's
600'000th Kilometer - very prosaic before the post office in Cayenne/French Guiana.

(after some loading-time please klick "IN LEGEND" and afterwards "HAIR TO MAGELLAN
- and you will see that we already belong to it too!)
