News June 2008   (Tauranga/New Zealand, June 27, 2008)

Website statistics: In May we were able to welcome on our website 52'947 visitors who did 1'445'085 hits.
                                           (April = 55'748 visitors 1'579'212 hits)
The visitors are coming from about 100 to 118 different countries!
Record day since 12/17/1998 - the birthday of our website: 11/5/2007 = 13'407 visitors and 787'456 hits

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since a few days, our New Zealand round trip is "completed" and we are back in Tauranga, 130 miles Southeast of
Auckland. Altogether we drove 6'800 miles within 4 months and got a good overview from New Zealand, both from the
South and the North Island. We can recommend the country to everybody, who wants to explore a lot of nature –
although it has its price tag, but the countervalue will be received! We try to display a touch on our picture websites
part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5 and part 6. New Zealand will be left with mixed feelings: Reluctantly, because the
time spent here and which run off so quickly offered so many beauties of nature that might not return very soon again;
happily, because the current prevailing wintry climate with its rain, wind and clammy temperatures is causing us a few
problems. New Caledonia – our next destination –, which is situated North of the Tropic of Capricorn and ought to be
"really" subtropical, should definitely be warmer.

New Zealand: Te Paki Sand Dunes - 11 miles South of Cape Reinga on the Northern tip of the North Island

Currently, we are organizing the continuation of our journey through the Pacific. Due to the ongoing fuel price hikes, we
don't have yet a final quote from the shipping lines, but it looks now very much that our LandCruiser will be put mid July
into the13th container to be sent to Nouméa in the French overseas territory of New Caledonia – our 160th country.
Meanwhile, we'll fly with Air Vanuatu a detour via Port Vila on the island of Efate in Vanuatu, the former English-French
condominium of the New Hebrides, where we would like to organize the entry of our car into its following country, the
161st.
