We finished our Visaya trip through the islands of Mindoro, Panay, Negros, Cebu and Bohol situated in the Southern Philippines
according to our schedule. However, our farewell on January 31st, 2011, didn't work out so smoothly. Firstly the container for the
21st sea journey to Sri Lanka wasn't available – simply forgotten to order by the shipping agent in Manila. Hence we had to cancel
our flight from Clark to Singapore without reimbursing possibility; secondly we were charged once more very heavily when we had
to pay the amount of US$ 1'200 (without freight) for the car's exit. The extreme bureaucracy of this country was again in full bloom!

Luckily we got two seats at the afternoon flight of the new Philippines budget carrier Seair to Singapore. Thus we reached the Lion
Town exactly at the start of the Chinese New Year when once a year many businesses are closing. Two days later we flew with
another low cost carrier – Tiger Airways – for five days to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. On Tuesday our flights continued: Early
morning with Air Asia to Colombo, although out car will arrive there only on February 26th, and on Wednesday with Air Arabia to
Sharjah, the neighbor of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. But this isn't our holiday destination yet. Having now 2½ weeks
"vacation from our car" we take the opportunity to visit the extraordinary island of Socotra in Yemen measuring 1'466 sq.mi.
Actually it lies closer to Somalia – but there is no need to worry about piracy, as Felix Airways flies directly from Sharjah via
Mukalla to Hadibo, the small main town.

Should the situation in Yemen escalate during our visit similar to Tunisia and Egypt, we decide to backtrack the same way to Sri
Lanka. If it remains calm we shall make a detour to Sana'a, the capital of the country. The unique architecture of Sana'a fascinated
us already 1996. When coming from Oman we traveled through Yemen already one month. Both – the old city of Sana'a as well
as the island of Socotra – are on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Botolan/Luzon/Philippines: Jeepney (traditional public transport)

We now hope of a good arrival of our LandCruiser in Colombo on February 26th, 2011, in order to be able to explore our 169th
country during a period of two to three months. Also we hope of an improving weather situation, as Sri Lanka received too much
rain along the East coast and in the North.
