-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While we arrived on November 2nd, 2010 with AirAsia from Brunei and Sabah at Clark near Angeles – the former American air
force base situated 40 miles North of Manila – our LandCruiser reached its destination port of Subic Bay – a previous American
naval base – already the day before. It arrived in its 20th container from Lae in Papua Neuguinea shipped by the vessel "Pacific
Navigator" of the Swire Shipping Line's "Tasman Orient". But it takes another four days until it gets freed from its cage. And still
then we haven't been allowed to leave the "Subic Bay Free Zone". Only after we received the latest paperwork from Manila and
paid the highest port and car release charges ever of US$1'365 (without freight), we were allowed to cross the customs check
point of Olangapo. In was on November 11th.

Because we explored already two years ago with a rental car the North of the main island of Luzon – while our car was sailing
from Hong Kong to New Zealand – we decided to discover now firstly the South. Hence, ro-ro-ferries shipped us from Southern
Luzon via the islands of Mindoro, Panay to Negros, where we currently spend the last days of the ending year 2010 at Sipalay.
Beginning of 2011, we shall visit Cebu and Bohol, the next islands of the 'Visaya Group', before returning to the North by the
islands of Leyte and Samar.

Sipalay/Island of Negros/Philippines: On the way to Punta Ballo, South of the small city of Sipalay

On January 31st, 2011, our Toyota will leave for another sea journey: To Sri Lanka, our 169th country. We shall fly the next day
with Seair, the newest Filipino budget airline, from Clark to Singapore. Where we shall spend the following three weeks, until the
freighter arrives in Colombo around February 22nd, is still an open question.Till then we wish everybody a Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year!
